A grandmother’s health is failing. She sits alone, hurting, and uncertain of how she’ll ever find relief. An appointment with her doctor is long overdue. She no longer drives but also fears what comes next upon seeing her physician. New prescriptions? Surgery? How will either be possible on her fixed income? She’s defeated before even starting to find a solution.
Each year stories similar to this are the unfortunate experience for countless senior citizens. With tens of millions of later-in-life Americans living alone, unable to drive, and without income or adequate insurance, it’s easy for their health to rapidly deteriorate. At The Medicare Association, we know it doesn’t have to be this way. Every day we strive to provide resources that generate hope and improve the lives of this vulnerable community.
Responding to the overwhelming need, The Medicare Association steps in to help thousands receive the care and services they require to thrive. We provide for medical needs including appointment transportation, physician care, medications, and specialized services. Our work also supports their basic needs such as housing, food security, and social opportunities. We believe these valued members of our community deserve respect, dignity, and the resources we are dedicated to providing.
As a registered 501(c)3 charity, we count on volunteers, staff, partners, and those with a like-minded passion for helping seniors in troubling circumstances. It takes a committed team to help people like Linda, 67, who required urgent care while her doctor was away. She found same-day assistance with us. Or Bob, 77, who wasn’t able to cover his cancer treatment. He was connected with resources for coverage and an incredible cancer treatment center through our organization.
Your support ensures real people, someone’s grandparent or neighbor, gets life-changing help.
